Our History

Since 1961, STC has been the primary service provider for Motorola in the Rio Grande Valley.  The company was founded by Harry Ewing and Mike Haden.  They opened a small shop on north 10^th street in McAllen with B. J. Ewing handling the books.

In those days with radio as our primary focus, vacuum tubes and dyna-motors were the latest technology and frequently required service.  There were no repeaters, no trunking systems and a portable radio was larger than a lunch box.  Each company, police or fire department owned their own base station and short tower.  Interference, skip, and non-private channels were accepted as normal.

STC has grown over the years.  We now have three locations adding San Benito office in 1983 and Brownsville in 1990.

We now service the majority of the Public Safety community throughout our primary area of responsibility for Cameron, Willacy, Hidalgo, Starr, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Brooks and Kenedy counties. 

 Technology has changed and STC leads the area in bringing new innovations to the community.  Today, STC provides Public Safety Trunking Systems, hi-tech dispatch centers, wide area coverage, mobile data, complete patrol car packaging and much more.  We provide products and services from the finest list of vendors available in our business. 

Over the years, our staff has also grown and is known for the original founding qualities of hard work, honesty and delivering value to our customers.
